Polyes of the Colon

Abstract
Clinical observation was made on 21 cases of patients with polipoid Iesions of the colon seen at Chonnam University from January 1956 to June 1966. Simple adenomatous polyps were most frequent (47.65b). Sex incidence of male to female was 2.5 to 1 and peak age incidence was lying in 4th to 6th decade and lowest in 2nd decade.
Eighty per cent of all cases was found in rectosigmeid region. Chief symptoms were bleeding (65.7%), abdominal pain (38.0 % ) and changes in bowel habits (28.5 fl ).
Regarding to size of polyps, less than lcm. in diameter, it revealed benign lesion, and more than 1cm., malignant one histologoically.
Diagnosis were made by sigmoidoscopy (80.0%) and barium enema(61. 5 5~ ). Sigmoidoscopic polypectomy was done in the majority of patients (66.75yo) and laparotomy was performed in the cases of massive bleeding, intussuscetion and colloid adenocarcinoma.
Sigmoidoscopic polypectomy was complicated postoperative mild bleeding (50,0%) which ceased spontaneously, whereas in laparatomy, with dehiscence, anastomotic leakage and wound infection.
